In our home, our focus is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ because, without that, we would have no hope. I keep the bunnies and such to a minimum but have a tiny bit of fun with some of it. I also love the traditional, big Sunday lunch, and surprising my crew with baskets containing a few of their favorite things (even Superman!).
By keeping the following three hacks on point, we can keep it simple, make it meaningful and stress-free.
1. Focus
Each year, I like to find some type of devotional, short story, or bible study for our family to read through during the week of Easter. In reality, it ends up being just a short one-day or two-day reading together, but it’s better than nothing. When the kids were little, I read short books like The Parable of the Lily, Benjamin’s Box: The Story of the Resurrection Eggs, and The Easter Story for Children by Max Lucado.
2. Family
The second way to have a fun, easy, and stress-free Easter 2017 is to enjoy some low-key time with immediate family and friends and church family as well. For me, I’m inviting just a few for Easter Sunday weekend to spend time and enjoy Sunday lunch. We have fun outside on our land, have a wonderful lunch, and take fun family photos.

Simple!!!
3. Simple Menu & Decor
The main way we can keep Easter weekend without stress is to plan a super simple lunch or dinner or … (GASP!) … go out to a restaurant with family and friends for Sunday lunch. I enjoy cooking the Easter spread these days but if it helps you to enjoy the day more, there is no shame in letting someone else serve you that day. We have a new Cracker Barrel in our area, and it is tempting to head there this Sunday!
I’d love to hear about YOUR Easter 2017 plans!

These are great tips! We are going to church and then spending time with family at my moms. I’m excited!
Thank you for this. I really needed a reminder to slow down, and keep it all in perspective.
Yes, keep it simple! And focused on the right things. Love this post!
Love these ideas and that you keep it simple with the focus on what Easter is really about! He has risen! ??
I love preparing for Easter by reading some great books with my daughter!
It is so important to keep things low key enough that you can be fully present for what matters. I am still trying to figure out how to make Easter special for my girls but I will be keeping your tips in mind.
I completely agree with focus! Just as at Christmastime, our Savior Jesus Christ truly is the reason for the Easter season! We’ve taught our children the symbolism behind the hollow Easter eggs and the tomb and resurrection. So we still have the “fun stuff”, but we try to keep our focus on the Savior.
I 100% agree on the ideas of remembering the reason for the season, simplicity and focusing on family. Great post!
We are going to a childrens prayer service on Saturday so we can focus on the important part of easter before all the eggs and chocolates! I am SUPER Stressing about what to make on Sunday though… I should just relax.
Yes to the second one, family! It’s so important and no matter what time of the year and what holiday it is, it is a must to spend it with family! xx
These are wonderful tips and a great way to remember the reason for Easter. Our morning starts out early with 7:30 Mass. then on to breakfast.
I love simple decor – just touches are enough for me! I also love using spring decor with just a couple of Easter things thrown in so I can leave it up longer. 😉
I love these tips! They are so spot on for my family as well. This year we will be spending time with my mom’s side of the family all weekend and enjoying some great food and friends! 🙂 Happy Easter!!
These are such helpful tips!! Happy Easter!
I love this post! We often lose our perspective and forget why we are celebrating holidays. These are great tips. Happy Easter!
I love the idea of a simple menu! It leads to way more time with family and an opportunity to enjoy hopefully nice weather!
Easter is one of my favorite times of year. Thank you for this post and the encouragement to stay focused on what really matters.

These are some great tips, this Easter we are planning on going to a friend house and have Easter gathering over.
Thank you for this. I really needed a reminder. Have a good one.
Thanks for these tips on de-stressing and simplifying our celebrations at Easter. It’s all about focusing on Christ anyway, right? I’d love it if you’d add your link to my linkup back at Messy Marriage, my friend. And so glad to meet you! Sounds as if you have a lot of “guru” knowledge that we all can benefit from! 😉
Thank you for your post. I agree with you that in every occasion we spend time with family is the best thing
