“I’m not looking forward to Easter 2017,” I hope no one is saying this week.  New life, Spring weather, happy colors everywhere, awesome candy, and for us Christians, the celebration of the risen Savior is a lot to get excited over.  Even though it’s a wonderful time of year, women get spun up with all there is to do in the days leading up to Easter weekend.  I’m right there with you!  Here are hacks to help create a meaningful but easy Easter weekend …..

It's a wonderful time of year: new life blooming outside, Spring weather ... Here are her 3 Hacks for a meaningful but easy Easter 2017 weekend!!!

In our home, our focus is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ because, without that, we would have no hope.  I keep the bunnies and such to a minimum but have a tiny bit of fun with some of it.  I also love the traditional, big Sunday lunch, and surprising my crew with baskets containing a few of their favorite things (even Superman!).

By keeping the following three hacks on point, we can keep it simple, make it meaningful and stress-free.

1. Focus

Each year, I like to find some type of devotional, short story, or bible study for our family to read through during the week of Easter.  In reality, it ends up being just a short one-day or two-day reading together, but it’s better than nothing.  When the kids were little, I read short books like The Parable of the LilyBenjamin’s Box: The Story of the Resurrection Eggsand The Easter Story for Children by Max Lucado.

Now that I don’t have littles anymore (sniff sniff), I seek out the latest Max Lucado devotional for the week of Easter.  This is amazing to keep our focus on the reason for this season.  A big part of Easter weekend that I adore is gathering with my church family for a wonderful day of worship.  I am so thankful for the gift that God has given to all of us.  I highly recommend that you drag your family to a bible-believing church as well — you’ll be so glad you made the effort!

2.  Family

The second way to have a fun, easy, and stress-free Easter 2017 is to enjoy some low-key time with immediate family and friends and church family as well.  For me, I’m inviting just a few for Easter Sunday weekend to spend time and enjoy Sunday lunch.  We have fun outside on our land, have a wonderful lunch, and take fun family photos.

3. Simple Menu & Decor

The main way we can keep Easter weekend without stress is to plan a super simple lunch or dinner or … (GASP!) … go out to a restaurant with family and friends for Sunday lunch.  I enjoy cooking the Easter spread these days but if it helps you to enjoy the day more, there is no shame in letting someone else serve you that day.  We have a new Cracker Barrel in our area, and it is tempting to head there this Sunday!

If you haven’t already, pull out just one decoration or two for a few rooms in your house to bring a little Easter color cheer.  I simply created a dining room table centerpiece, sat a couple decorations in the living room and kitchen, and called it Spring!  You’ll be surprised how learning how to simplify life and add coziness to your home with decor like you see below will brighten your mood and put a little spring in your step (ha!).

I told you that my plan was simple!  I’ve learned in my older age that us girls tend to over-complicate things when it really isn’t necessary.  Enjoy Easter 2017 with your people and kick the stress and overplanning to the curb this year.  😉

I’d love to hear about YOUR Easter 2017 plans!

It is so important to keep things low key enough that you can be fully present for what matters. I am still trying to figure out how to make Easter special for my girls but I will be keeping your tips in mind.

I completely agree with focus! Just as at Christmastime, our Savior Jesus Christ truly is the reason for the Easter season! We’ve taught our children the symbolism behind the hollow Easter eggs and the tomb and resurrection. So we still have the “fun stuff”, but we try to keep our focus on the Savior.

We are going to a childrens prayer service on Saturday so we can focus on the important part of easter before all the eggs and chocolates! I am SUPER Stressing about what to make on Sunday though… I should just relax.

I love simple decor – just touches are enough for me! I also love using spring decor with just a couple of Easter things thrown in so I can leave it up longer. 😉

Thanks for these tips on de-stressing and simplifying our celebrations at Easter. It’s all about focusing on Christ anyway, right? I’d love it if you’d add your link to my linkup back at Messy Marriage, my friend. And so glad to meet you! Sounds as if you have a lot of “guru” knowledge that we all can benefit from! 😉
