Enjoying our Wife Challenges so far and ready for some organized chaos in the laundry room? As long as there are dirty clothes around, there will be chaos but we can create some quick and easy organization that will relieve a lot of stress in our lives. Let’s get back with it, shall we …..
I know that revealing my messy laundry room struck a chord because y’all spoke up and said that you really deal with it too! So, let’s park here a bit and get this under control once and for all! If you are just now joining this challenge, catch up by reading about how to declutter clothes .
Before we get on the hacks to quickly help us fall in LOVE with our laundry rooms, watch this about the progress I’ve made so far.
Organized Chaos Hacks
Here are a few laundry room hacks that will make our lives so much better! I plan to implement many of these into my laundry room over the next few days. Which ones will you choose?
#1 Clothes rod
By far, my biggest suggestion, if you do nothing else, is to have some type of rack, rod, or clothes line to hang your clean clothes on. Below is the one similar to what you see in the video in my laundry room. Mine is longer than this one but I show you this smaller one to prove that you can find any size. I’ve also included a similar style:
#2 Over the Door Hooks
By placing an over the door hook organizer, you are gaining extra hooks in a space that isn’t used anyway. I’ve needed this for a long time and didn’t realize how cheap they are. Here are a couple different styles:
#3 Baskets
Of course, there are many choices depending on your style but I love these options to add personality and versatility to my space. Rolled up towels or just about anything could fit in these:
#4 Drying Rack
I don’t know about you but I have several tops that I do not want to put on hangers to dry. Doing so would ruin the fabric and make the sweater all wonky. I’ve always wanted a sweater rack and know is the time to get one. The only problem is deciding which style I want. Which do you like best?
#5 Wall Mount Trash Can
There is absolutely no floor space to put a trash can and I’m constantly sitting wads of dryer lint and random trash in my laundry room. I need a tiny, wall mount trash can to take care of this issue. Here are a couple cute options that I found:
#6 Pretty shelf with hooks
One last need is a shelf (this one has to be pretty) with hooks to take care of any additional needs. I’m in love with these two styles. Which do you prefer?
Are you in need of these supplies to for organized chaos?
In a few days, I’ll show you the results these hacks and supplies and we’ll talk about adding pretty touches and color to make the laundry room a place that we just might now want to leave! Stay tuned.

These are great tools! I have all of these, for sure! I don’t play around when it goes to handling my clothes, therefore you shouldn’t play around with organizing the room that you do that in! 😉
This is a great post!!
Sincerely Miss J
I for sure need the trash can that hangs on the wall. Right now, I am using a walmart bag hanging on one of those hooks that are on the wall. It looks so bad. LOL thank you for sharing these!!
Virtuous Mama
So many great ideas! My laundry room is a nightmare, thanks for the tips. Pinned for reference!
That was pretty helpful (even though I don’t have an extra laundry room) haha.
Love over the door hooks <3
These are great tips! It’s always nice to maximize space in the laundry room!
Love the multiple hook idea. We have one hook on our laundry room door and it often gets super stuffed. If I had multiple hooks it would solve the problem! A small thing but super helpful. thanks 🙂
These are some great tips! I love that accordion style drying rack with hooks, I’m going to remember that for the future. I don’t have a laundry room in our current house, our stuff is out in the garage. I guess I never saw it as a blessing in disguise before because I don’t have a room to catch clutter! Silver linings. 😉
I needed this! My super tiny laundry room has been bothering me for a while and I did not know why. Now I do because it is a disorganized mess. So next week I’m going to fix that with a new trash can and some cute, but functional baskets. Thanks for the inspiration!
These are great tips! I love over the door racks because it saves space and you can hide things away!
I am in the process of fixing up my laundry room. We just moved in and the previous owners just put random nails in the wall to hang their clothes on. It was the most bizarre thing. The tiny room had over 25 nails and screws that had to be taken out and the holes patched! As soon as we paint, I’m definitely putting up a clothes rod. I’ve never seen those hanging drying racks but I think I’ll have to get one of those, too!
OMG why have I never put a hanging trash can in my laundry room? Genius! All great tips!
I didn’t even know drying racks like these existed! I definitely need to get myself the ones you mentioned. Great tips!
Cool ideas. I’m always looking for ways to streamline.
These are excellent tips! I always feel like our laundry room is a hot mess since we’re constantly pushing through laundry! One of my goals this week is to tidy up the area.
Oh I need all this stuff and an afternoon to work on cleaning up the chaos. I also need to convince my kid to clean out her craft box which has somehow migrated into my laundry room as well!
Great tips. My laundry room is the one of my house that is an absolute disaster. I love the idea of that farmhouse tote as a laundry basket. Too cute!
These are great tips! We swear by door
Books, need to
Try the others as well!
Love the idea of a wall mounted trash can, No floor space go up. Great ideas
This post makes me realize how much I hate my laundry area. LOL. I love that hanging drying rack thingie. These are great suggestions.

Thank you! I hated mine too but now I’m loving it more and more. Amazing how a few small changes make such a difference.
blessings,

Great tips! I like the idea of being able to hang the clothes up directly out of the dryer instead of having to take them to another room and dump them on a bed or table first.
Love these! I have a drying rack and also a hanging holder for cleaning tools like brooms and mops which is very handy!
My laundry room is tiny and I recently re-did. While it looks a lot better it didn’t get any bigger. I love these tips, definitely going to implement them to help me be more organized!
If you could only see my laundry room now…. you would know how much I need this!! Getting those drying racks!
These are great tips! I love the idea of a rod for hanging shirts. Can’t wait until we’re no longer renting and can do things like that.
I love these ideas! Great products! My laundry room is one place that needs an overhaul!
Such great tips! I will need to try out some of these.
I love the stackable mesh drying rack! What a great space saver!
I totally need to organize our laundry area! These tips are great!
These are great tips!! We just have a metal rod hanging from the ceiling (my laundry room is in the basement) to hang clothes from. I also have four smaller square laundry baskets that I sort my clothes into.
I absolutely love the idea of a wall mount trash can!! How clever! And I am a basket fanatic haha I can not see a cute basket or bin and not buy it! Such a cute way to organize the whole house
I think I definitely need over the door hooks and the wall mount trash can!
So many great tips! Thank you, I need these ideas! I have been putting on hold completely spending on my laundry room as we currently live on an apartment but this ones on my to-do list once we get settled in a home!
I definitely need the over the door hooks! Very helpful list you got here! 🙂
I like to say I’m organized but in reality I’m a hot mess. Thank you so much for sharing some wisdom… I need to check out those shelves!
I need to spruce up my laundry room. Love the idea of hanging things on the wall. Maybe a drying rack that will pull out rather than my stand up one that is always in the way.
My goal is to tackle my laundry room to make the design way more efficient and less chaotic, but it’s not the most glamourous room to invest money into, ya know? I’m lucky mine is tucked away on the second floor where nobody sees it.
