Low Carb Cheeseburger Pie: Easy + Cheap + Hearty

This post may contain compensated links. Refer to my disclaimer for more info.

This easy and Low Carb Cheeseburger Pie is a quick dish that’s full of flavor.  This old Americana classic typically is a cheeseburger skillet type of dish (a Bisquick cheeseburger pie 9×13 style with a crust).  A hearty but lighter version that I created that the family loves is a low carb cheeseburger skillet without Bisquick or ANY crust. Trust me when I say that this low carb cheeseburger pie is heaven coming out of the oven and into your mouth because there’s a secret sauce in this bacon cheeseburger pie that’ll knock your socks off.

Low Carb Cheeseburger Pie

This yummy dish was huge in 1950s households until a more famous “pie” came along and stole the spotlight – the pizza.  This recipe is one of my faves because it’s one of those quick low carb meals that uses only one skillet and just a few simple ingredients. This easy low carb cheeseburger pie just so happens to be the 19th in our 31 Days of Delicious Easy Recipes series and this easy dinner idea can be a gluten free pie and dairy free too!

One recipe after another time-consuming recipe that I found was just too complicated and laden with the high carbs of Bisquick mix!

With this quick and easy meal, we have a hard time stopping with just one slice at a time!  Since I shot the original video below, I started adding bacon bits to make it bacon cheeseburger pie but you’ll find the bacon optional on the printable recipe card below.

Easy ingredients

All the exact measurements are on the printable recipe card below, but here are the ingredients at a glance.

  • ground meat
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • salt and pepper
  • eggs
  • mayonnaise
  • shredded cheese
  • optional extra cheese
  • optional crumbled bacon

Bacon Cheeseburger Pie instructions

There is a video, ingredient list, and printable recipe card below.  Here’s the basic idea ->

You’ll season and cook ground meat in a cast-iron skillet.  Drain extra oil.  Add egg/milk mixture to skillet.  You can add an optional 1/8 cup of crumbled bacon or bacon bits to the mixture.  Stir well.  Place skillet in preheated oven.  Cook at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  Optional:  add shredded cheese as a topping and cook 10 more minutes.  Remove skillet and let cool 10 minutes.  Slice cheeseburger pie just like any other kind of pie and serve.  Enjoy!

Important:  Using a cast iron skillet sure makes it an easy, one-dish meal, but these ingredients can also be poured into a pie pan or casserole dish and cooked the same.
