Christmas Music Cheer!
Did you know that fabulous, classic Christmas music may be just what you need to get your spirits lifted and give you a much needed kick in the holiday spirit britches?! Since we’re in the midst of an old fashioned Christmas countdown, I’m here to remind you that none of us can help but sing along to cheerful Christmas songs like we did as a child. So whether you need incentive to decorate for Christmas, write Christmas cards, or whip up a little Christmas baking, it’s amazing what some festive tunes can do …..
Christmas Music Faves
So I double-dog dare you to turn your favorite holiday tunes on and not smile and find a little holiday cheer by the song’s second chorus!
As I began walking at the track the other day, I became a little anxious thinking about how I needed to get in gear for the holidays – especially when I thought about my extremely long to-do list! It didn’t help that I’d brought my earbuds to the track but had accidentally deleted my music playlist. I quickly tapped the YouTube app on my phone and searched for “old fashioned Christmas music.” This one put a holiday spring in my step, joy in my heart, and smile on my face.
It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas — Johnny Mathis
A Holly Jolly Christmas — Burl Ives
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! — Dean Martin
It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year — Andy Williams
The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole
White Christmas — Bing Crosby
Yesterday, our little family arrived home with a freshly cut Christmas tree and I played this fabulous Christmas music playlist for my family. It bought back memories for Superman and I from our childhood and helped us to pass along the special tradition of old timey Christmas music with our daughter. I was practically skipping around the Christmas tree as we decorated. 😉
More Christmas music faves
Don’t get me wrong, I also love modern Christmas songs too by Micheal Buble, Josh Groban, Kari Jobe, and Pentatonix, but it’s just not the holidays without old fashioned Christmas songs by Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Bing Crosby, to name a few. Here are the nostalgic lyrics of Sinata’s An Old Fashioned Christmas:
Give me an old fashioned Christmas, an old fashioned Christmas
Family faces, wide open spaces, covered with snow
Right now my mom there in the kitchen, basting the Christmas bird
You’ll have to take my word, you can’t find that at the automat
An old fashioned fireplace, give me an old fashioned fireplace
My heart remembers smoldering embers, warming your glow
I’d trade that whole Manhattan skyline, the shimmering steel and chrome
For one old fashioned Christmas back home
I’d love to hear what YOUR favorite Christmas music is!

I love so many Christmas songs, I don’t know that I can say I have a favorite. And I love to listen to Pandora Christmas stations, I have a cou0ple different ones, one with classic choral music, and one with a more traditional mix of carols that I love.

The classics are definetly some of my favorite. What I listen to changes based on my mood. So sometimes its classics and sometimes more modern. My favorite song though, is O Holy Night. I agree that Christmas music does a great job of getting me in the spirit of things and somehow makes everything better. 😉
