Clean Movies: Best Family Movies Kids AND Grownups MUST See!

This post may contain compensated links. Refer to my disclaimer for more info.

I can’t tell you how many times we tried to have a family movie night by starting to watch so-called clean movies that left us red-faced and embarrassed. I quit relying on those movie ratings – they weren’t trustworthy at all. And the family movie reviews I was reading were typically written by folks who cussed their way through the articles. They didn’t seem to see “family movies” in quite the same way that I did. I made it my mission to find all the family-friendly ones that I could – funny family movies, clean action movies, the best Halloween movies, and even some good family movies on Netflix. So buckle up for the ultimate movie list for families…..

THE BEST CLEAN MOVIES FAMILIES CAN “REALLY” WATCH TOGETHER

My hunt for clean movies for families has turned into many movie list posts for you over time. Today I’m rounding up all of my movie list one ultimate article. You and I now have one spot to quickly find the best new family movies list and old classics all in one place (with print friendly button at the bottom if you’d like to print for later).

You’ll find the following genres in the list below:

  • family movies
  • Halloween movies
  • cool movies
  • Romantic movies
  • Christmas movies
  • Action movies
  • Fall movies
  • Classic movies
  • Thanksgiving movies

There aren’t many small kid-focused animated movies listed here because this list is mostly those hard-to-find clean movies for the whole family – to especially watch with slightly older kids – not just little kids. There are scores of animated movies lists floating around the web. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy all the family movie info!

CLEAN MOVIES FAQS

What are good clean movies?

There should be plenty to choose from in all of the genres below from the big screen, to Netflix, and more. If you have any to suggest, tell us in the comments!

What are some good family movies on Netflix?

It’s hard to list Netflix movies that are on this list because of the ever-changing way they remove different ones each month. My suggestion is to put a suggested movie below into your Netflix account’s search bar to see if it is listed before spending money to watch it elsewhere.

What is your criteria to be considered “clean movies?”

Fun family movies without nude folks, foul language, or inappropriate intimacy on the screen. I’ll say this, I am more conservative than most people I know, so I don’t allow much to fly under the radar. I am human, however, and may have missed something inappropriate, so I do not claim responsibility for my movie suggestions listed here. The only way to know for sure is to screen these choices yourself before letting youngsters watch them. 🙂

If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story

FAMILY MOVIES

For those on the hunt for some spectacular family movies, look no further. Anyone old enough to remember watching the Wonderful World of Disney in the late 70s that came on every Sunday night? Please tell me someone else remembers! I have such fond memories of watching films like the Shaggy DA, the Sound of Music, and the original Escape to Witch Mountain and others with my Dad. You’ll find others HERE.

COOL MOVIES

Looking for fabulous movies for the fam that have great storylines – without all the trash?! This ultimate cool movies list may have a couple classics but many other super cool films like The Lost Medallion. There’s truly something on this list for everyone – all ages!

HALLOWEEN MOVIES

I hope you love what I think is the best Halloween movies list. Once again, I was having a hard time finding a family-friendly Halloween movie list to watch with my youngest. There were lists but their idea of “family” and mine were very different. Halloween movies are tricky in my opinion because they easily can cross the line for me when they become “horror” movies, too deep into demon themes, or try to be too sexy. These Halloween movies are some you definitely won’t be scared to watch with the fam (see what I did there?! I crack myself up).

Sadly, our screening got a little lax as our kids got older. Now that I have a six-year-old that enjoys television more than he once did, I need to be more intentional about this. Thanks for the prompt and suggestions.

Me too! One friend got me adding original M&Ms to our warm popcorn. I’d never done that before but the popcorn melts chocolate just enough to soften a bit. The salty – sweet is great!

I also don’t always agree with the ratings on movies. There are so many PG movies that are so violent! This is super helpful.

Same, Christa. These days it seems that almost anything goes in PG movies!!
