97% of the time I’m a hopeful wife that sees the glass half full instead of half empty.  I search for the rainbow even before the clouds clear from the storm – and I’m often asked how I’m able to focus on joy when life seems hopeless. I’m sharing secrets today of retaining joy during hopeless times AND it’s time to announce the FABULOUS FALL Wifey Giveaway!

A Fall Goodies Giveaway that pampers, inspires, and renews the hopeful wife!

Hopeful Wife Life

Life is hard but I focus on the fact that there is always hope. My hope comes from the Lord (I hope yours does too).  My heart for this wife life community has always been to provide hope and hacks to make your life just a bit easier so you can focus on true joy.  We’re all in this together – being hopeful for the future- therefore we’re all hopefuls.  I’ll refer to you as ‘hopefuls’ from here on out and I hope it always brings a smile to your face as a secret bond we have!

The following are the steps I take when all seems hopeless.  {*and don’t miss the video below about the Fabulous Fall Wifey Giveaway!*}

Hope from the past

Truth is, I’ve had a lot of practice dealing with hard trials and I’ve had to decide whether to cling to hopefulness or hopelessness.  Anyone?  In these moments I must take a step back and remember what the Lord has done for me in the past.  When I do this, I remember that there are circumstances in which I am still in awe of how God intervened for me.

One trial was honestly the hardest thing I’ve dealt with in my life.  And I’ve had lots of stuff, Y’all…  Devastation from death, miscarriage, house fire, family and friend betrayal, bad financial decisions, etc, etc, etc.  God really came through for me in a miraculous way during this one particular trial, though, and I will never get over it.  The day I had victory over it was 15 years ago, and I literally got on my face in thanks to God.  And I have fallen on my face first thing every morning since then to show my gratitude to Him.

What blessings has God given you in your past?

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. ~Psalm 28:7

Hope for others

Have you ever noticed that when you get the attention onto others that your problems don’t seem as huge?  Yeah.  Another trick to becoming a more hopeful wife is for us to get over ourselves!  As big as our problems are, there is always someone who has it worse than we do.

If you ask God to reveal those whom He wants You to bless, He will certainly put them in your path somehow.  I’ve seen it happen time and time again.  When our home burned to the ground in seven minutes flat, the way our community rallied around us with anonymous gifting was incredible.  That’s probably why our favorite thing to do is to sneak gifts (or ship them anonymously) to the doorsteps of families that need them.

Who could your family bless in your community?

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. ~Philippians 2:3-4

Hope through prayer

God knows our wants and needs.  He also wants to hear from the heart of His children.  I know that I can go to my Father and pray and He will hear me.  Over the years, I have realized the power that a praying woman can really have.  Especially when we ask other women to join us in those prayers.

Sometimes God says, “yes,” but many times He says “no” or “later.”  We must be willing to pray God’s will above all else and trust that He knows whats the very best for us.  It’s also a powerful thing to reference scripture when praying.  For instance, “God I am believing in this miracle because you said in your Word that ______.”

Do you trust God’s will when you pray and believe He will do what’s best for you?

“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” ~Matthew 18:20

Hopeful expectations

God is delighted when we believe that He will do what He says He will do.  When we cling to God’s promises and literally use Scripture (His Word) in our prayers, we are confirming that we believe that the Bible is true and that He is sovereign in our lives.

Even when doubt has welled up inside of me like a flood, I fight this urge and am determined to be a hopeful wife with clear expectations of great things.  I believe (even when life feels hopeless) that God will intervene and take care of every situation in my life.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. ~James 1:5-7

When we are feeling hopeless, we can be a more hopeful wife when we:

  1. praise God for the blessings of our past,
  2. help others in their time of need
  3. pray for help in our current trials
  4. expect miracles from the One who can move mountains

Hope is such a wonderful emotion. I think mostly if we continue to focus on the positives and take action to make things better, it does work. Hope and action together are inevitable.

Such a great post and exactly what I needed right now! I just realized recently that my life with my husband will never be as peaceful as I want it to be. Like it’s hopeless to be peaceful because of things beyond my control. But I try to focus on the blessings I have – my kids, my ever supportive husbands, friends and family who live thousands of miles away but still continue to be there for me.

My mother is the most hopeful and optimistic person that I have ever met, and whenever I am faced with adversity, I am so grateful that she passed these lessons on to me. It is so much better to live life as a hopeful and optimistic person, than someone who is upset and angry all the time!

I am usually a half glass is full kind of person. Here lately I have had to let go of a hopeful person. The negative and well just hate was to much for me to bear. Tried for several years to be there but it was draining and just became to much for me.

Love this post. How amazing is it to cling to God’s word to hold on to the promises from him. One thing I know for sure is that God is crazy faithful and will never leave or forsake us.

Very inspiring post. I try to always remember to thank God for all my past blessings. Sometimes it can be really challenging when I face challenges, but I would like to remember His goodness always.

I remember this quote from George Lucas … “The secret is not to give up hope. It’s tough not to because if you’re really doing something worthwhile, I think you will be pushed to the brink of hopelessness before you come through the other side”.

Sometimes it can be so difficult to be hopeful but since I got closer in my relationship to Christ I have found it so much easier to pray and find peace and hope in knowing that He will not let me fall.
