Enjoying our Wife Challenges so far and ready for some organized chaos in the laundry room?  As long as there are dirty clothes around, there will be chaos but we can create some quick and easy organization that will relieve a lot of stress in our lives.  Let’s get back with it, shall we …..

I know that revealing my messy laundry room struck a chord because y’all spoke up and said that you really deal with it too!  So, let’s park here a bit and get this under control once and for all!  If you are just now joining this challenge, catch up by reading about how to declutter clothes .

Before we get on the hacks to quickly help us fall in LOVE with our laundry rooms, watch this about the progress I’ve made so far.

Organized Chaos Hacks

Here are a few laundry room hacks that will make our lives so much better!  I plan to implement many of these into my laundry room over the next few days.  Which ones will you choose?

#1  Clothes rod

By far, my biggest suggestion, if you do nothing else, is to have some type of rack, rod, or clothes line to hang your clean clothes on.  Below is the one similar to what you see in the video in my laundry room.  Mine is longer than this one but I show you this smaller one to prove that you can find any size.  I’ve also included a similar style:

ClosetMaid Shelf Kit with Closet Rod

EZ Shelf Expandable Closet Rod

#2  Over the Door Hooks

By placing an over the door hook organizer, you are gaining extra hooks in a space that isn’t used anyway.  I’ve needed this for a long time and didn’t realize how cheap they are.  Here are a couple different styles:

over the door 11-hook organizer rack
over the door 10-hook bronze rack

#3  Baskets

Of course, there are many choices depending on your style but I love these options to add personality and versatility to my space. Rolled up towels or just about anything could fit in these:

extra large farmhouse basket
foldable storage baskets or fabric drawers with handle

#4  Drying Rack

I don’t know about you but I have several tops that I do not want to put on hangers to dry.  Doing so would ruin the fabric and make the sweater all wonky.  I’ve always wanted a sweater rack and know is the time to get one.  The only problem is deciding which style I want.  Which do you like best?

stackable mesh drying rack

hanging sweater drying rack

#5 Wall Mount Trash Can

There is absolutely no floor space to put a trash can and I’m constantly sitting wads of dryer lint and random trash in my laundry room.  I need a tiny, wall mount trash can to take care of this issue.  Here are a couple cute options that I found:

the Glam can

cabinet mount trash can

#6  Pretty shelf with hooks

One last need is a shelf (this one has to be pretty) with hooks to take care of any additional needs.  I’m in love with these two styles.  Which do you prefer?

accordion drying rack shelf with hooks

white shelf with hooks
What do you think, friend?  What did I forget?

Are you in need of these supplies to for organized chaos?

In a few days, I’ll show you the results these hacks and supplies and we’ll talk about adding pretty touches and color to make the laundry room a place that we just might now want to leave!  Stay tuned.

Let’s connect on Facebook or Instagram.  I’ll be asking how you are doing on your Laundry Room Challenge & sharing photos of how I’m doing over here — so look for me!  Oh yeah, when you finish your challenge each day this week, you have my permission to eat a cupcake!

Her simple step-by-step hacks to ORGANIZED CHAOS in the laundry room is amazing and one that I am pinning so that I won't forget!

These are great tools! I have all of these, for sure! I don’t play around when it goes to handling my clothes, therefore you shouldn’t play around with organizing the room that you do that in! 😉
    This is a great post!!

I for sure need the trash can that hangs on the wall. Right now, I am using a walmart bag hanging on one of those hooks that are on the wall. It looks so bad. LOL thank you for sharing these!!

Love the multiple hook idea. We have one hook on our laundry room door and it often gets super stuffed. If I had multiple hooks it would solve the problem! A small thing but super helpful. thanks 🙂

These are some great tips! I love that accordion style drying rack with hooks, I’m going to remember that for the future. I don’t have a laundry room in our current house, our stuff is out in the garage. I guess I never saw it as a blessing in disguise before because I don’t have a room to catch clutter! Silver linings. 😉

I needed this! My super tiny laundry room has been bothering me for a while and I did not know why. Now I do because it is a disorganized mess. So next week I’m going to fix that with a new trash can and some cute, but functional baskets. Thanks for the inspiration!

I am in the process of fixing up my laundry room. We just moved in and the previous owners just put random nails in the wall to hang their clothes on. It was the most bizarre thing. The tiny room had over 25 nails and screws that had to be taken out and the holes patched! As soon as we paint, I’m definitely putting up a clothes rod. I’ve never seen those hanging drying racks but I think I’ll have to get one of those, too!

Great tips! I like the idea of being able to hang the clothes up directly out of the dryer instead of having to take them to another room and dump them on a bed or table first.

I need to spruce up my laundry room. Love the idea of hanging things on the wall. Maybe a drying rack that will pull out rather than my stand up one that is always in the way.

My goal is to tackle my laundry room to make the design way more efficient and less chaotic, but it’s not the most glamourous room to invest money into, ya know? I’m lucky mine is tucked away on the second floor where nobody sees it.
