IBS Probiotics Review After My Powerful Three-Week Experience With VSL#3

Recently I shared that I was beginning a three-week journey back to a healthy gut with the help of VSL#3 (VSL3), a high-potency probiotic medical food that has been proven in the dietary management of the serious digestive issues of IBS, UC, and ileal pouch.  Since my painful and uncomfortable UC symptoms were causing me to miss out on life, I decided to get serious and do something about it – here are my honest & personal results.

Since doctors recommend using a serious probiotic medical food like VSL #3 to get the necessary amount of live bacteria when managing serious digestive issues, I was all taking VSL #3 for three weeks to see how my UC symptoms may change. I am also sharing a candid video below that will give you a peek into my journey back to health during those three weeks.  First, let me give you my review.

Convenience & Taste

I tried the VSL #3 unflavored powder packets (they stay refrigerated to maintain high potency) that can very easily be poured into a bottle of cold water or any cold, non-carbonated beverage.  I always added powdered flavoring of my own even though VSL#3 packets are flavorless. I have a sensitive nose and the added flavoring (like light Crystal Light) helped.  It seemed as if I wasn’t drinking a probiotic at all.

Why VSL#3 probiotics?

It’s important to know that not all probiotics and bacterial strains are the same[1]. VSL#3’s unique synergistic composition, with eight diverse strains of bacteria, makes it one of the most potent probiotics in the world. Adding this specific combination of probiotic bacteria can help you manage your unhealthy gut when managing serious digestive issues like irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, and ileal pouch.

How Did My UC Symptoms change?

Before taking VSL#3, I experienced extreme fatigue, stomach pain and bloating, burning stomach, and more.  These symptoms in their worst form kept me from living life because I would have to miss events often.

After taking VSL#3, I definitely have noticed a big change in my symptoms – for the better.  I no longer feel the need to eat antacids like candy on a daily basis, which is a huge plus.  The pain from bloating and stomach cramping is gone 90%of the time as well.  I’m also able to eat spicy foods now without pain and burning.

Would I recommend VSL#3?

I can honestly say that if someone is experiencing IBS, UC, or ileal pouch, I would highly recommend talking with your doctor about trying VSL#3 to help manage your digestive issues. I plan to continue with my VSL#3 for another round of three to four weeks to help support my gut! Interested in trying VSL#3 for your serious digestive issues?
