It’s so tough to find family-friendly TV shows that are worth watching with the fam, amen???  Trashy media drives me nuts and is why I created the ultimate cool movies list that you’ve loved. I was also on the hunt to make an ultimate list of family friendly TV shows for my family this Summer and wanted to share with you! Enjoy, friend!

Her AMAZING list of family friendly TV shows not to MISS this Summer

Family friendly TV shows

As always, use your own discretion the age that’s appropriate for these shows. Most of them are clean and a whistle and light-hearted enough for anyone.

Right now, my girl and I are watching reruns of Chesapeake Shores to get caught up with the new season. We also are enjoying Good Bones, KC Undercover, and more.  Here’s a list of NEW Summer shows worth waiting for:

Outdaughtered

The Busby Quints Are Back! A young couple struggling with infertility issues tries for baby number two. They received five baby girls instead! July 11th starts Season 3 of this adorable family, The Busbys. Outdaughtered airs on TLC.  There is also TLCgo for those who have cable or satellite subscriptions.

We don’t have cable or satellite and TLC is about the only network that we can’t watch on SlingTV.  Instead, we stream the individual shows through the Amazon app (instant video) on our Roku player.

Rustic Renovation

This is a new show that I’m excited to check out on DIY Network called Rustic Renovation. It features two brothers in Minnesota that work together.  They seem to have a fun dynamic that should be interesting to watch starting on July 11th on DIY.

Cheap Eats

I’m a little biased about loving travel TV shows since I’m a travel writer. What’s better than just a travel show? A travel + food show! This guy, Ali Khan, will be traveling around the U.S. to the best joints to get the most food for his buck. Should be fun! Cheap Eats airs July 12th on The Cooking Channel.

The Christmas Cure

You are watching the Hallmark Christmas in July week, right? Every night this week, there has been a Hallmark Christmas (rerun) movie. We’ve been loving it! This weekend wraps up Christmas in July with a NEW Hallmark Christmas movie called, The Christmas Cure. The storyline features a daughter trying to decipher if she should follow in her father’s career footsteps or blaze her own path.

Kids’ Choice Sports Awards 2017

We haven’t watched this before, but on July 16th, stars and athletes will compete at the Kids’ Choice Sports Awards. Nickelodeon hosts these annual games with famous faces who try to avoid “the slime!” Looks like a lot of fun!

Flip or Flop Atlanta

This brand new HGTV show airs on HGTV July 20th. We are excited about this one because we’ve enjoyed the original Flip or Flop show since it aired a couple of years ago.  Of course, I’m curious to watch Ken and Anita Corsini work on Atlanta Metro homes in my beloved peach state!

Shark Week

OOO, how we enjoy Shark Week every Summer. I’m not sure why other than the fact that they are such intriguing creatures. I am terrified of them but love learning about them just the same. On the Discovery Channel, Shark Week Season 2017 Season 30 will begin on July 23rd.

Small Town, Big Mayor

My daughter and I watched Season one of Small Town, Big Major, and absolutely fell in love with it. I can’t tell you how many times we got tickled at the small town antics. Although we don’t live in a small town quite as petite as D’Lo, Mississippi, we aren’t too far away!

You know how I love my old fashioned retro vibes and this show looks like you stepped right back to 1950s Mississippi town.  Look for it on Up TV coming August 3rd.

Island Hunters & House Hunters Family

HGTV’s show, Island Hunters is one of those shows to watch when you are in a dreaming mood.  I certainly can’t afford to buy an island but it sure is fun to watch others do it. We sit and wonder how these folks made a gazillion dollars to be able to purchase a private island of their own.

House Hunters Family is a spin-off of the original show that lets kids have a say in the house buying process. It’ll be fun to watch this with the whole family and see who gets their way. The parents or the kiddos?  Watch for it on HGTV on July 31st.

Mysteries at the Museum

Want something different for the whole family that’s unexpected? Mysteries at the Museum is one of those shows that I have to be in the mood for. Once I get involved in one of the shows though, there’s no turning back. I’m hooked to the end. Travel Channel is supposed to be airing a new season that begins on August 3rd.

Chesapeake Shores

Oh, how we love Chesapeake Shores at my house. Such an interesting storyline about a multi-generational family that lives along the idyllic shore of Maryland. The characters are believable and the situations relatable. The overarching theme above all of the drama is that family is everything and must stick together!

If you missed Season 1, I suggest watching them on Amazon instant video to catch up. Season two will begin on August 6th via Hallmark Channel.

The Story of Diana

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since the death of Princess Diana? I can remember watching the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana at the crack-of-dawn as an eleven-year-old girl. I was at a sleepover, yet was so intrigued by the Royals and the upcoming wedding – even at that early age!

On August 9th and 10th, ABC will host a miniseries of the late princess. I’ve heard that her brother will be part of the interview. I’m not sure how well these will fit into the family friendly TV shows mold because of the alleged affair and infidelity topics, but it’s British history, right?

Rescue Dog to Super Dog

Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before? The new show, Rescue Dog to Super Dog chronicles the process of pairing dogs at shelters with those who could gain tremendous help from those animals. The dog trainers met a person with physical, mental or neurological disabilities and then try to find a dog at a shelter that will be a perfect match. The dog trainers then train that dog specifically for the needs of that person.

Awesome! Animal Planet should be airing this brand new show on August 12th.

Guy’s Family Road Trip

Who doesn’t love Guy Fieri from Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives? I heard a little rumor that one of the new family friendly TV shows on Food Network would be Guy’s Family Road Trip. It will feature his family (via RV) in search of delicious food across the states. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I am a little partial since we are RV foodies too!

Look for Guy’s Family Road Trip on Food Network on August 18th!

Garage Sale Mysteries

Confession: my girl and I are completely obsessed with Hallmark’s murder mysteries series. It’s a separate channel from the regular Hallmark Channel and it is fabulous! All of the murder mysteries are adapted to movies from books – those are the best.

Every Sunday night in August, four brand new ‘Garage Sale’ mysteries will air.

Wholesome, family friendly TV shows aren’t on live constantly. When all else fails, we default to reruns of When Calls The Heart, Home Town, Fixer Upper, and Andy Griffith.

House Hunters gets me every time!! I turn the tv on and it’s still on HGTV and next thing I know it’s two hours later! We also like to watch the show Face Off, a makeup artist contest show. It’s fun to see what they come up with, my 4 year old loves it!
