We made it to our destination of a quick Jekyll Island getaway. Thanks for the Westin Jekyll Island for hosting our family on this trip. I’m excited to feature this amazing Coastal Georgia paradise from the perspective of this gorgeous hotel.
[Hosting provided by the brand mentioned but as always, it’s 100% my own Southern opinion!]
Today was a travel day and we knew that we weren’t to check in until 4 p.m. My girl was dying to hit the sand so we arrived on Jekyll Island around 2 p.m. and went straight to an area close to our hotel. Great Dunes Park is a lovely park area in the center of the island. Next to the convention area, this park has restroom/changing room pavilions, covered picnic tables, beach volleyball (watched a game in progress), and an outdoor shower for sandy feet!
Apparently, we were both in great need of a beach trip because of the fact that we both dozed off. Yep, I especially got a little too much sun. That’s what happens though when you show up with lily white skin! Oh well!
We pulled into the beautiful Westin Hotel and were greeted by the friendliest valet fellas ever. “Why yes, I’d love for you to park my car and take my luggage for me.” Not gonna lie, Southern hospitality from a wonderful staff never gets old! This Westin Hotel’s staff made us feel incredibly welcome.
This Jekyll Island getaway is starting out on a wonderful note.

The room we were provided was a deluxe suite. I can’t get over the ocean view from our large, L-shaped balcony. One of the best features to me of The Westin Jekyll Island is that it is next door to the gorgeous Jekyll Island Beach Village. Shops, restaurants, boutiques, oh my! We ended the night with a walk through the “village” and dinner at the Jekyll Market. We got dessert to enjoy on our balcony and got ourselves ready for Day 2!
Looks like a great trip! Enjoy!
Jekyll Island is one of our favorite weekend escapes! It’s not the biggest island, but there’s so much to do–and I LOVE the history behind it, too! We haven’t stayed in the Westin on Jekyll yet, so I’ll have to keep that in mind for our next visit.
I have never been there but it looks like so much fun! I will add it to my travel list!
I haven’t been to Jekyll Island in years! Hope you enjoy your stay and get a chance to check out Fort Frederica while you’re there.
I’ve heard of Jeckyll Island, but have never been. How lovely. Glad you had a fabulous stay!
Wow looks like you had a great time!
