A fabulous accommodation can do wonders for your spirit and add so much value to a getaway. That was certainly the case when we found the BEST of luxury cabins in North Georgia woods of Rabun County. This cabin’s affordability and the quaint little mountain towns nearby are only two of many reasons why this is the perfect cabin rental in the Blue Ridge region. WHY IS THIS THE BEST NORTH GEORGIA CABIN RENTAL?
It’s safe to say we are experts of visiting the North Georgia mountains – both as tourists AND visiting with friends and family who’ve lived there.
Our son went to college in North Georgia and married a North Georgia native. We’ve literally lost count of how many times we’ve visited cities like:
- Cartersville
- Rome
- Helen
- Dahlonega
- Cleveland
- Hiawassee
- Blairsville
- Gainesville
- Dawsonville
- McCaysville
- Blue Ridge
- Ellijay
- Brasstown Bald
- Amicalola
- Yonah
- Sautee Nacoochee
- Clermont
- Morganton
- Aska
- Talking Rock
The location of the amazing VRBO cabin I’m sharing today is in Rabun County, Georgia.
Here, Rabun is known as the land where “Spring Spends the Summer,” it’s brimming with natural beauty, the best North Georgia hiking, and is home to three major lakes.
We now know that it’s a perfect fall vacation spot as well.
Here you’ll find breathtaking Tallulah Gorge and the wild Chattooga River all year long.
Hiking trails, quaint mountain towns, waterfalls, and award-winning restaurants are things to explore in this corner of northeast Georgia.
There is a cabin tour video below, but first, here are all the reasons to be obsessed with this mountain getaway cabin rental…
PIN FOR LATER

#1 LUXURY MOUNTAIN CABIN
Check out the Black Rock Lodge to start one of your own Georgia mountain vacations!
The best way to describe this mountain cabin is to say it’s casual luxury.
The elegant rustic vibe makes you feel right at home with the best well-made furniture and upscale decor.
Spacious, airy, and immaculate. Yet, it feels homey at the same time.
New furnishings, gorgeous wood floors, walls, and ceilings throughout. Top-of-the-line beams and rustic stair rails to the upstairs loft, bedroom, and bathroom add to the cozy cabin feel.
A massive stone fireplace is the focal point of the large living area. With oversized beds, leather couches and chairs, cozy blankets, and mountain-style porch rocking chairs, the owner seems to have spared no expense.
#2 NEAR THINGS TO DO IN GEORGIA MOUNTAINS
The cabin is literally next door to Black Rock Mountain State Park and the Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center.
Black Rock Lodge is also conveniently also located near Downtown Clayton, Highlands North Carolina, the famous Dillard House and Stables. I’ll share these and other attractions in the next article.
The popular Bavarian town of Helen, Georgia is only 40 minutes west!
Blairsville and Hiawasse, Georgia, beautiful Bryson City with the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, as well as the Cherokee Reservation are all over an hour away!
You will also have access to the Blue Ridge Parkway with scenic drives to take in the beautiful views of The Great Smoky Mountains.
It’s quite literally the perfect location!
#3 BEST CABIN SECLUSION IN NORTH GA
Although the Black Rock Lodge cabin is tucked away up on the side of the mountain at 2700 feet elevation, the drive up isn’t bad at all.
The gravel, slightly-inclined driveway provides traction and wasn’t a problem for our small vehicle.
While there are neighbors in an area below the property, the cabin provides complete privacy (even on the wraparound porch) because it’s encapsulated by forest and beautiful landscape.
This adds to the cozy feel and as if you are a million miles away from the world.
The high elevation of the cabin lends itself to spectacular views from the porch!
#4 BLUE RIDGE SPECIAL TOUCHES
The owner has thought of everything!
And she’s added many details that you won’t find in every cabin. Trust me, we know!
The Black Rock Lodge has a fantastic wrap around porch with rocking chairs and built in benches where you can take in the sounds and sight of the state park.
There’s a downstairs master with king size bed and attached bathroom which is nice for privacy from kids and/or another couple upstairs.
Upstairs hosts a large sleeping loft with two twin-sized beds and a second bathroom. You’ll also find a private bedroom with a queen bed as well.
The kitchen is large with many cabinets, stainless steel refrigerator, adjacent to a dining room with an oversized dining table.
The cozy rustic vibe was my favorite with the barn doors for closets, wood beams in the cathedral ceilings, customized wood railing to the loft and porch, massive stone fireplace, and huge wraparound porch.
The owner also leaves large containers filled with necessities and goodies in the kitchen and both bathrooms.
Overall, Black Rock Lodge is an immaculate and comfortable cabin where you’ll know you are on a luxurious mountain vacation!
NORTH GEORGIA CABIN FAQS
Georgia tops the list in the top travel magazines, with a lot of attention to the Northeast Georgia region. The magnificent beauty, lack of crowds in most towns, and long list of outdoor activities make it “the” up and coming spot to vacation.
The places that stretch across the state from the far northeast and northwest that are above the metro area of Atlanta.
Gorgeous mountains, vacations, beautiful vineyards, origin of Appalachian trail, friendly folks, wild rivers, mountain culture, hiking, babbling brooks and creeks, tall waterfalls, gold rush, forests, camping, apple orchards, & farms.
We’re partial, but we think every season is a great time to visit. In the North Georgia mountains, the summers get pretty warm but aren’t as humid as the southern part of the state. Although it can get pretty cold from December to February, it’s a magical time to visit if you are prepared! Spring and Fall are absolutely ideal!
