Organize your life (or hot mess, whatever) before school starts with these four easy hacks that I’ve learned over the years. Oh, maybe it’s just at MY house where Summer gear is everywhere, school supplies aren’t bought, and our routines are faded memories. The ‘before school panic’ hits me every year! And every year I wait till the last minute to kick my life back into action. BUT, these tips work every time – just before that first school bell rings!
4 Hacks to organize your life
I literally go through the following hacks one by one each year about this time. I work slowly until I’ve added all four habits back into my life. This helps me to not get overwhelmed. I hope this helps you to lose the chaos too!
Declutter your mind
There’s no better way to clear your mind from the anxiety of organizing your life faster than the habit of reading God’s Word. The promises and truth always calm my spirit and help me remember what’s really important.
Since we haven’t followed a tight schedule of any kind during the Summer, sometimes I forget to do my bible study first in the morning. What about you?
You’ve probably heard me speak of the First 5 App. I’d like to commit to not only reading the five-minute commentary on my phone, but to also look up the scripture that’s referenced too.
Deep sleep
My girl and I have had a blast staying up super late on these Summer nights. Truth be told though, I feel so much better during the school year when my sleep time is normal.

Declutter home
Having a cluttered house is overwhelming in itself. That’s why we are ONLY going to focus on the kitchen, laundry, and closet right now. Getting these three areas in check before shopping for school-related items will have us breathing in a sigh of relief in no time!
Before you begin grocery shopping for that first week of school, complete the two kitchen tasks above. Before we buy any new school clothes, we should organize our closets (purge lots!), and laundry rooms! I’m in love with Wayfair’s organizational pieces for the kitchen, laundry room, and closet! They actually have an entire section of the store for storage and organizing.
Another idea for creating a less chaotic home is with labels. Yep, labeling items that are high in your closet or laundry room shelf can save you so much time and grief. Mabel’s Labels has the cutest system for household items. These are beautiful and waterproof so they will stay put. I also love all of their back to school labels for the things kids lose!
Now, let’s get busy, friends to organize your life and mine. Committing to get the house and ourselves in order just a little each day will cut down on the chaos and make us much happier wives. We’ll be so glad we did!
We’ve just moved so my life is beyond chaotic right now, luckily, we don’t start school until September so I have time to get it back in order. Thanks for the tips!

Awesome tips! Thanks a lot for sharing!
Great ideas! If only I could manage the sleep one I think I could master the others!! We start next week so I’m in a panic to get ready!
Great tips! I’m also feeling the anxiety of school starting soon and crushing chaos surrounding me! I love that your tips aren’t all about cleaning, but about self-care. Oh so important! Thank you!
Lovelovelove tip #1! I find it so helpful to declutter everything.. my space and my mind. Time with God and my Bible is so beneficial when things are busy and I’m stressed out.
