Married life is not always viewed in such a positive light these days. You know, there’s always that old joke about marriage being the ball and chain. At least one person at the wedding shower gives the advice that couples must live it up before the marriage vows are spoken. Yet, married life can be one of the greatest joys in life – if we let it.
Jesus came so that we could have life more abundantly. That same God designed marriage as a great thing. Shouldn’t we be living life abundantly through our marriages too? I’m asking. Not an assignment we must trudge through. Not an end to happiness as we know it.
Yes, things will definitely change when we say, “I do.” Yes, it is tough to learn how to live with another human and become one. We’ve lived our entire lives basically thinking only of ourselves to this point. Married life can be an amazing joy when we perceive it in the light of how God intended. Marriage is a clear picture of our relationship with God.
